Hey Ladies (or Girls),
I know a few things about the Photography side of things. First off it doesn’t sound good. But technically when a photographer takes the pictures they own the rights, they always will unless you ask for a letter letting you reproduce the images. Even then they own the rights you just get permission to print. Usually most photographers will let you if they are super ridiculous about copyright. Also, photographers do that so they can make more money off of you with the prints, since you have to go to them, sort of like a monopoly. It is an older practice (like with film days) that some people still hold on to but most realize what people want are digital files and the ability to print. What you pay for is essentially time photographing and editing and any cost of business things. But personally I think the friend is totally in the wrong… and to my knowledge albums don’t cost that much at all, but I could be wrong or just never pay attention to that expensive of a thing. And she took way too long.
